Many Punjabis who have migrated to other parts of the world maintain close ties to their familial villages, where they build new homes topped with sculptural water tanks and embellishments that creatively relay journeys, accomplishments, occupations, faiths, athletics, and other personal narratives. Over a five-year period, Mumbai-based photographer Rajesh Vora travelled to more than 150 of these Punjab villages to create the collection of photographs presented here, bringing to light a unique cultural expression that is little known outside of India.
